In a major development for India’s textile and apparel sector, Epic Group and Creative Group have joined hands to launch a new joint venture under the name SPECTRA. The move brings together two industry leaders with a shared goal of strengthening India’s role as a global manufacturing powerhouse.
The formal partnership follows the signing of a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier this year on January 9, 2025, and has now culminated in a definitive shareholder agreement. Spearheaded by Ranjan Mahtani, Chairman of Epic Group, and Vijay Agarwal, Chairman of Creative Group, the joint venture signals a new phase of collaboration, innovation, and scale in Indian apparel manufacturing.
SPECTRA’s Flagship Facility
At the heart of the venture is the launch of India’s largest sustainable denim and bottoms manufacturing facility, with a planned capacity of 700,000 units per month. Backed by an initial investment of USD 15 million, the project aims to achieve a turnover of Rs 500 crore (approximately USD 60 million) in the near future.
The facility will not only significantly boost India’s manufacturing output in the denim segment but will also set new benchmarks in sustainable production practices. Powered by renewable energy, the unit is expected to create 3,000 jobs in its initial phase, scaling up to 10,000 as operations expand.
Building on Sustainability and Innovation
SPECTRA’s manufacturing approach emphasizes environmental responsibility, speed, compliance, and product quality. Both founding companies have committed to a future-forward, green-first strategy that aims to minimize ecological impact while supporting community and economic development.
In addition to driving large-scale employment, the facility aims to foster inclusive growth and leverage India’s skilled workforce to deliver high-quality apparel solutions to global markets.
Complementary Strengths, Unified Vision
While Epic Group brings its global manufacturing excellence and operational capabilities to the table, Creative Group contributes over five decades of textile expertise and strong domestic industry networks. Together, the two companies aim to offer global brands a reliable, responsible, and scalable sourcing alternative out of India.
With the formation of SPECTRA, the joint venture is set to play a key role in redefining India’s position in the global denim and casualwear value chain. The partnership underscores the growing momentum toward sustainable sourcing and value-driven manufacturing solutions at scale.
