Typsy Beauty, a Gurugram-based makeup brand, has raised ₹20 crore in a funding round led by Saama Capital, a US-based venture capital firm.
The round also drew participation from Sanjay Kapoor, founder of Genesis Luxury and an early investor in Typsy Beauty; Tanaaz Bhatia, Founder and CEO of Bottomline Media; SRF Limited Group; and the family offices of Havells and Eicher Motors.
Founded in 2022 by Kairavi Bharat Ram, Typsy Beauty positions itself as a bridge between Indian and international makeup standards. Bharat Ram, who built an audience as a beauty content creator, said she started the brand after noticing that domestic products didn’t match the quality of international ones her followers wanted her to switch to.
The company says its formulations come out of the same manufacturing labs used by international names such as Rare Beauty, Tarte, and Rhode, and it sells at what it calls mass-premium pricing of ₹600–900. Its product lineup includes Foundcealer, described as India’s first foundation-concealer hybrid, along with Twist & Pout, a combined lipstick and liner, and Pout Cloud, a balm-like lip colour.
Typsy Beauty currently sells 27 SKUs spanning lips, eyes, face, and fragrance. Beyond its own website, the brand is stocked on Nykaa, Amazon, Myntra, Flipkart, Tira, Blinkit, and Zepto.
The company said the new funding will go toward three areas: expanding distribution through quick commerce and offline retail, entering skincare with hybrid skincare-makeup products, and growing its fragrance line, Typsy Fragrances. It plans to launch more than ten new products in the coming months.
Kairavi Bharat Ram, Founder, Typsy Beauty, said: “Typsy started because I couldn’t find an Indian brand that made me feel the way my favourite international products did. We set out to change that – not by cutting corners on formulation, but by partnering with the best labs in the world and bringing those products to India at prices that don’t shut people out. This funding lets us do that across more categories and for many more consumers.”
Shashank Tibrewal, Co-Founder, Typsy Beauty, said: “We’ve built a business with strong fundamentals – healthy contribution margins and a repeatable growth playbook across eight marketplaces. This investment gives us the resources to accelerate into new categories and wider distribution while maintaining the discipline that got us here.”
A Saama Capital spokesperson said: “Typsy Beauty has demonstrated what happens when strong product instinct meets operational discipline. The team has identified genuine whitespace in India’s beauty market and filled it with products that compete with international brands on quality while remaining accessible. We’re excited to back Kairavi, Shashank, and the team as they scale this vision.”
