“In our current collection, the most popular fits span a variety of styles that appeal broadly across demographics. Roadster, for example, offers a wide range of denim fits for both men and women, all of which are equally in demand,” says Prachi Sharma, Director Sourcing – Denim and Knits for Myntra House of Brands.

She adds, “Fit has become central to today’s fashion, especially as it resonates with trends and generational preferences. For Gen Z, known for celebrating individuality and redefining fashion norms, denim has evolved beyond a wardrobe staple to become a platform for self-expression and cultural identity.”

The collection includes fits such as slim, relaxed, straight, and regular, available across brands like Roadster, catering to all age groups who seek fresh, trend-responsive options.

“For Gen Z in particular, denim fits encapsulate a blend of comfort, individuality, and a nostalgic aesthetic that this generation finds appealing. Brands are increasingly attuned to these elements, creating denim styles that are not only fashion-forward but also meaningful, allowing wearers to connect deeply with the clothing they choose,” notes Prachi.

Product Portfolio

At Myntra, the denim collection spans a wide range of styles and fits, from classic straight-leg jeans to trendy wide-leg, skinny, and relaxed fits, offering options for every silhouette and preference. The selection includes high-rise, mid-rise, and low-rise cuts, with washes from light to dark, vintage-inspired, acidwashed, and distressed styles.

  • Denim jackets at Myntra feature traditional trucker styles, oversized fits, and cropped designs, with distinctive embellishments like embroidery or patches that add a unique touch.
  • Denim shorts range includes high-waist, midrise, and Bermuda styles, catering to diverse tastes. Options include classic blue denim, frayed hems, and distressed finishes, perfect for casual, warmweather looks.
  • Denim skirt selection covers mini, midi, and maxi lengths, as well as A-line, pencil, and wrap styles. With various washes and details such as fraying, button-fronts, and slits, these skirts offer versatile choices suitable for day-to-night wear.
  • Denim shirts at Myntra come in fitted and relaxed styles, ideal for layering or wearing solo. Available in multiple washes, these shirts feature design elements like Western snaps, button-down fronts, and patch pockets for added versatility.

Reflecting on innovation in Myntra’s denimwear, Prachi says, “Our approach to denim innovation centers on continuous exploration of new fi nishes with our supplier network, allowing us to bring trend-driven denim options to customers. By leveraging insights into consumers’ shifting preferences, we ensure that our denim styles remain relevant and resonant with evolving tastes.”

Additionally, she stresses, “To address the water-intensive nature of denim, we actively encourage our ecosystem partners to adopt comprehensive systems that recycle and use treated water, significantly reducing overall water usage in production. Additionally, some of our suppliers have installed solar panels to meet energy needs sustainably, aligning our production practices with environmental goals.”

“In the next five years, our focus will be on advancing eco-friendly technologies, including waterless dyeing and the development of biodegradable fabrics, to further minimise environmental impact,” she adds.

Successful Marketing Campaigns & Collaborations

Myntra’s success has been significantly bolstered by high-profile celebrity collaborations. For instance, Roadster has been represented by stars like Ranveer Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez, while Hrithik Roshan is the face of HRX. These partnerships, coupled with its value-driven off erings and trendy styles, resonate strongly with its customers, amplifying brand appeal and driving engagement.

Market Presence

Prachi says, “The Tier 2 and beyond markets are becoming increasingly crucial for our growth. The widespread availability of internet access and the influence of social media are key drivers behind the rising demand in these regions.”

“As aspirational mindsets evolve and disposable incomes rise, there is a noticeable shift toward branded fashion. The untapped potential in these markets is vast, with consumers increasingly seeking products that align with their evolving aspirations,” she notes.

Challenges in the Indian Retail Market

Refl ecting on the challenges Myntra faces in the dynamic fashion retail space, Prachi concludes, “Our brand faces several challenges, particularly in navigating global supply chain disruptions, fluctuations in raw material costs, and the complexities around ensuring timely product delivery to customers. Despite these hurdles, maintaining customer satisfaction remains a top priority, and we are continuously adapting to meet consumer expectations and overcome these obstacles.”
