Judith Leiber Couture, the American luxury house celebrated for its crystal-encrusted minaudières and sculptural evening bags, has opened its first boutique in India at The Chanakya mall in New Delhi, marking the brand’s entry into one of the world’s fastest-growing luxury markets.
Founded in 1963, the brand has built a six-decade legacy on handcrafted, jewel-like bags that straddle the line between fashion accessory and collectible art object. Under the creative direction of Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, it now adds India to a retail footprint that already spans North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
The New Delhi store will carry the brand’s signature novelty minaudières and evening styles alongside a selection curated specifically for the Indian market, including the Elephant Majestic, Red Rose Belle, and Parrot Scarlet designs — alongside globally recognised pieces such as the Bow Top Handle Bag, Crown Jewels, and Butterfly clutch.
“The opening of Judith Leiber Couture at The Chanakya marks an important milestone in the brand’s broader international retail expansion,” said Henry Stupp, President – EMEAI, Authentic Brands Group. “As we continue to grow the global footprint of Judith Leiber and the broader Authentic portfolio, markets like India represent a significant long-term opportunity. Following our expansion into key international destinations, including the Middle East, this launch reflects our portfolio-wide strategic focus on building a sustained presence across the world’s most dynamic luxury markets.”
The Indian retail partnership is led by Chandni Agarwal, founder of Sparsh India Couture and the India spokesperson for the brand.
“Delhi was a natural choice for our entry into India, given its role at the heart of the country’s fashion and celebration landscape,” said Chandni. “Its discerning clientele, with a strong affinity for craftsmanship and statement luxury, makes it an ideal market for the brand. Our focus is to create an immersive, experience-led retail environment that brings the world of Judith Leiber Couture to life. We see India as a key long-term market and plan to grow strategically, building meaningful connections with a new generation of luxury consumers who value individuality, heritage, and timeless glamour.”
The boutique opened today, April 24.
