Kavindra Mishra, Executive Director & CEO of Shoppers Stop, a prominent multi-brand retail chain in India, has announced his appointment to the Board of Directors of the Intercontinental Group of Department Stores (IGDS). Mishra shared the news recently on his LinkedIn profile.
About IGDS
The Intercontinental Group of Department Stores (IGDS) is the largest association for Department Stores worldwide, providing support to 44 leading Department Stores in the world.
It was founded in 1946 in Switzerland by eight European Department Stores, willing to develop common synergies. The group is a non-profit organisation, and cooperation between members is based on voluntary partnership, mutual interest, and mutual trust.
Its mission is to meet and exceed a customer’s desire for quality, surprise, discovery, and pleasure. As an association, IGDS is convinced that its commitment to provide a unique and entertaining shopping experience is more relevant than ever in the current environment.

Mishra’s Professional Journey
At that time, a statement by the Board of Directors of Shoppers Stop Ltd read: “He (Mishra) has been instrumental in strengthening the business in the post Covid era, by growing its strategic pillars of fashion, beauty and expansion of the Company’s retail network. He leaves a much-strengthened Shoppers Stop. To ensure a seamless transition, he will continue to guide and advice the CEO over the next 6 months, in his capacity as a Company official.”
B.S.Nagesh, Non-Executive Chairman of the Company had then lauded Mishra’s skills as a business leader, strategic expert and his overall understanding of the retail industry, calling it an excellent fit for leading the Company as its CEO and setting high standards.
Mishra has more than 22 years of retail experience. Prior to Shoppers Stop, he worked with the House of Anita Dongre as Managing Director. An IIM-Bangalore alumnus, he had earlier stints with leading retail companies like Pepe, ABFRL, Benetton and Arvind among others in leadership positions.
This new role is in addition to his current position at Shoppers Stop. Mishra’s inclusion on the board highlights the growing recognition of Indian retail leadership on the global stage.
