Amit Goel, a retail industry professional with nearly two decades of operations experience across some of India’s best-known footwear and fashion chains, has joined Metro Brands Limited as Head of Operations for its Walkway brand, the company announced this week.
Goel confirmed the appointment in a LinkedIn post, saying he was “stepping into this role with gratitude, humility, and a strong sense of purpose.” He said he looks forward to strengthening “operational excellence, customer experience, execution discipline, and scalable retail growth” for the organization.
The move marks the latest step in a retail operations career that spans more than 20 years. Goel most recently served as Head of Operations at Baazar Style Retail Ltd. where he oversaw operations across North, Eastern and Central India from March 2025 to May 2026. Prior to that, he was Head of Operations at Trent Ltd from September 2023 to March 2025.
Before that, he spent over eight years with Landmark Group as Senior Area Business Manager. Goel’s retail career began at Bata India Limited, where he spent eight years, including a stint as Retail Operations Manager overseeing more than 100 stores and seven district managers across North India. He also worked as Business Operations Manager and Head of Retail at Uni Style Images Pvt Ltd, and started out as a Floor Manager at Trent Ltd, where he was part of the team that opened eight new stores.
He holds an MBA in Marketing from Symbiosis (2003–2005) and completed an Executive Management Programme in Operations Management and Supervision at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (2019–2020).
In his new role at Metro Brands, which owns and operates the Walkway footwear brand, Goel will be based in Mumbai.
