Louis Vuitton is set to debut its beauty line this fall, joining luxury peers like Chanel, YSL, and Dior. Following the success of its fragrances and heritage in travel accessories, the brand introduces La Beauté Louis Vuitton to expand its presence in the beauty market.
With this new line, the brand is joining the ranks of high-end brands like Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, and Tom Ford, all of whom have long-established cosmetics lines.
Building on the success of its fragrance line and its heritage in travel accessories—including makeup and toiletry cases—the French luxury giant aims to strengthen its presence in the beauty market.
The venture gains prestige with British makeup artist Pat McGrath as Creative Director. Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the beauty industry, McGrath has an extensive background in high fashion, having worked backstage at major runway shows and helming her own successful brand, Pat McGrath Labs. Her achievements have earned her prestigious accolades, including being appointed a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II in 2021—the first and only makeup artist to receive such an honour.
Louis Vuitton’s foray into beauty comes at a crucial time for the luxury industry, which is facing a slowdown in sales. LVMH, the parent company of Louis Vuitton, has been looking for new avenues to attract younger, budget-conscious consumers amid economic challenges. As high-end fashion houses like Hermès, Valentino, and fellow LVMH-owned brand Celine expand into makeup, the category has proven to be a lucrative segment, offering aspirational shoppers access to luxury at a more attainable price point.
With McGrath at the creative helm, Louis Vuitton’s beauty launch is highly anticipated, and industry experts expect it to make a significant impact when it debuts later this year.
