Emporio Armani’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, titled ‘Traces of Time,’ takes the passage of time as its central idea, treating it less as a force of aging than as a material that reshapes the look and feel of clothing.
The men’s and women’s collections were designed by Silvana Armani and Leo Dell’Orco, who presented them together once again. The label has long positioned itself as a “wardrobe in motion,” in which masculine and feminine, formal and informal, exist side by side without hierarchy, and which prioritizes the wearer’s personality and self-expression. This season, the house said, time acts directly on the materials themselves, giving fresh meaning to fluid silhouettes, precise jackets and what it calls liquid tailoring.
Salt as embellishment and decay
The time in the collection is described as mineral. Salt crystals serve as both a treatment and a form of embroidery, a substance that preserves and corrodes, decorates and consumes.
Other techniques build on the theme. Acid washes and cold dyeing produce irregular color effects. Linen has been treated to imitate, through trompe-l’oeil, the surface of worn garments. Seersucker is hollowed out and crumpled, laser-treated velvet takes on a mottled look, and organza layers transparency and reflection. According to the house, each piece carries a mark with depth and memory, while still feeling light and retaining firmness and structure.

A lightweight wardrobe
Lightness runs through both the men’s and women’s offerings. Linens, weightless silks, shirting fabrics, viscose and jersey are used to build forms without weight. Jackets shed their structure or are crossed by panels and knots, trousers are airy, and knitwear evokes the intimacy of underwear. Touches of lurex and aquatic-looking surfaces break up the otherwise tactile, matte opacity of the collection.
Codes cross over
As time blends materials, the collection blends codes. Tailoring and transparency, jackets and small waistcoats, wide trousers and essential tops move freely between menswear and womenswear. The color story favors irregular neutrals, building to black.
Oversized bags, rope or fabric slippers and, on occasion, small headpieces complete the looks.
