Shoppers Stop has become the exclusive national chain store partner for Guess Jeans in India, bringing the American denim label to its brick-and-mortar network as it expands its portfolio of international fashion brands.
While Guess Jeans will continue to be sold on e-commerce platforms, Shoppers Stop will be the only national chain where customers can shop the brand in stores. The partnership gives shoppers the chance to try fits and silhouettes and browse the latest denim styles first-hand.
The tie-up also deepens Shoppers Stop’s denim and casualwear portfolio, and reinforces its strategy of offering globally recognised brands in a curated, premium retail setting.
Guess Jeans has launched at seven Shoppers Stop outlets: Inorbit Mall Malad, Thane Lakeshore Mall, Phoenix Mall of the Millennium Wakad, Nexus One Mall Ahmedabad, Inorbit Mall Cyberabad, City Centre Mall Patna and Twin District Centre Rohini.
Kavindra Mishra, Customer Care Associate, Managing Director & CEO, Shoppers Stop, said, “At Shoppers Stop, our focus has always been on bringing globally recognised brands closer to discerning Indian consumers through a curated retail experience. Our partnership with Guess Jeans strengthens this proposition by giving customers the opportunity to discover the brand across our department store network. As the exclusive department store partner for Guess Jeans in India, we are pleased to bring its distinctive denim and contemporary fashion offering to our customers. This partnership further strengthens our international brand portfolio while creating a differentiated experience for customers across our stores.”
For Guess, the India launch is a milestone in its push into one of the world’s fastest-growing fashion markets.
Ajay Kumar, Country Manager, GUESS India, said “The launch of GUESS JEANS in India is an important milestone in our journey to connect with a new generation of consumers. Our collaboration with Shoppers Stop is key to this ambition, bringing together a strong physical retail presence and digital reach. Through these partnerships, we aim to make GUESS JEANS’ distinctive denim heritage and contemporary, youth-focused style more accessible to Indian consumers, wherever they choose to shop.”
The company said it will follow an omnichannel retail strategy and global brand storytelling, with future collections, collaborations and retail experiences planned to build its connection with Indian consumers.
Guess Jeans is the youthful sub-brand of the GUESS portfolio, designed for Gen Z consumers. Its collection draws on global street culture, individuality and self-expression, offering modern silhouettes and everyday styles. Described as an American West Coast lifestyle brand rooted in a 40-year denim legacy, it was conceived by Nicolai Marciano and focuses on core denim basics, with a stated commitment to sustainability and innovation.
The launch is part of Shoppers Stop’s wider premiumisation drive, which centres on expanding its range of international and premium brands and creating differentiated experiences across physical and digital channels. The retailer cites 500+ premium brands, Personal Shopper services and First Citizen Club loyalty privileges as part of that offering.
Established in 1991, Shoppers Stop operates 118 department stores, 11 premium home concept stores, 72 specialty beauty stores, 85 Intune stores and three airport doors, covering 4.5 million sq. ft.
