Decathlon to host 50+ cleanup drives across India on World Cleanup Day 2025

Decathlon India is set to mark the 8th edition of World Cleanup Day with more than 50 cleanup events across the country, bringing together over 6,000 participants. The initiative underscores the sports retailer’s long-term commitment to sustainability and community engagement.

Last year, Decathlon’s World Cleanup Day campaign saw over 3,600 participants collect more than 7,000 kilograms of waste across diverse landscapes. This year, the brand is scaling up efforts with activities spanning beaches, lakes, forests, and neighborhood playgrounds, in collaboration with NGOs, local authorities, and its own team of volunteers.

Annie George, Leader Sustainable Development, Decathlon India said, “World Cleanup Day gives us an opportunity to stand by our mission and demonstrate our belief that the ‘world is our playground’, where every space is an opportunity to move, play and embrace the joy of sport. As a responsible brand, we are mindful of the impact of our activities on the environment and we are taking action to reduce and manage waste across our value chain. We are committed to giving purpose to 100% of our operational waste through recycling and scientific disposal, and are progressing steadily towards this goal. This initiative is another step in Decathlon’s ongoing sustainability journey and its commitment to a healthier future.

As part of its broader environmental strategy, Decathlon integrates circularity into its business model with initiatives like repair services, buyback programs, resale, and its Second Life offering. It also works with specialized waste management partners to ensure all collected materials are recycled or responsibly processed.

By connecting sport with environmental responsibility, Decathlon aims to inspire collective action and create a sustainable ecosystem that fosters connection, collaboration, and community.
