Urbanic’s Series C funding boosts sustainable fashion mission with $150M

London-based fashion brand Urbanic has successfully concluded its Series C funding round, raising a significant $150 million. The financing round saw participation from notable investors such as Switzerland’s Mirabaud Lifestyle Impact & Innovation Fund, New York-based D1 Capital Partners, JAM Fund, and several global investors alongside European luxury fashion families. Previous supporters including Nexus Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital also contributed to this round.

The infusion of capital is earmarked to expedite Urbanic’s growth trajectory and broaden its reach to a more extensive global audience. The brand is poised to utilize the funds to bolster its technology-driven initiatives and further its commitment to socially responsible fashion practices.

Urbanic prides itself on its innovative approach, harnessing cutting-edge technology to revolutionize the fashion landscape. Their proprietary AI and machine learning-based models, coupled with a large language model (LLM) trained across various codebases, empower the brand to systematically craft fashion designs and content while enhancing supply chain efficiency.

Urbanic’s partner James Wellwood in London said, “We launched Urbanic in 2019 with the simple idea that clothing does not need to be expensive to be differentiated, stylish, and socially responsible. We will continue to leverage groundbreaking technology and partnerships with manufacturers and suppliers who comply with the highest standard of international working conditions that protect our people and our planet. We are grateful for the support of our investors whose funding will meaningfully accelerate our ability to bring new designs and clothing to our customers across our markets globally.”

In line with its commitment to social responsibility, Urbanic has embarked on several initiatives. Collaborating with NGO Florestas Inteligentes, the brand has launched the Urbanic Oasis initiative, aimed at planting one million trees in Latin America with plans to extend the program to other developing regions over the next five years. Additionally, partnerships with organizations like Earth Angels Welfare Foundation and Pequeños Hermanos Mexico underscore Urbanic’s dedication to community empowerment and education.

Furthermore, Urbanic is actively exploring sustainable packaging solutions, including the use of biodegradable and recycled materials, to mitigate plastic waste and achieve plastic neutrality.

Urbanic’s latest funding milestone not only propels the brand towards its expansion goals but also reaffirms its commitment to pioneering technology and sustainable fashion practices on a global scale.
