Lenskart, Asia’s largest eyewear company, has taken its first step into wearable technology with the launch of B by Lenskart — AI-powered smart glasses built in India and designed to be worn all day.
The glasses, which go by the nickname “Buddy,” combine a 12 MP Sony camera, Google’s Gemini AI assistant, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 chip, and directional audio into a frame weighing just 40 grams. Lenskart says the product is built around a “glasses first” philosophy — prioritising comfort and wearability over technology for its own sake.
Commenting on the announcement, Peyush Bansal, Co-Founder and CEO, Lenskart, said: “At Lenskart, we have always believed that India has the will to build products that can compete globally. With B by Lenskart, we wanted to create smart glasses that are eyewear first, comfortable, stylish, and practical enough to be worn all day. This is our first step into wearable technology, and we are excited to build this category alongside our customers in India before taking it to global markets.”
What It Does
The Gemini-powered assistant can understand and respond in more than 40 languages, including Hinglish and other Indian languages. It can also see what the wearer sees, enabling contextual responses and real-time help — think identifying a dish on a menu, reading text on a signboard, or answering questions about something in front of you.
For media capture, the integrated Sony camera shoots 4K photos and HD video. Calls and music play through directional speakers paired with a three-microphone array, with three sound modes — Discreet, Normal, and Boosted — to suit different environments.
A built-in LED indicator light activates whenever the camera is recording, alerting people nearby and addressing privacy concerns that have followed products in this category.
The glasses come with Japanese ultra-thin blue light lenses and ship with a charging case that provides up to 48 hours of additional power on the go. A unique temple-tip charging cable also allows the device to be charged from a phone while still being worn — a practical touch for all-day use.
Early Access and Pricing
B by Lenskart debuted at Lenskart’s IPO event in November 2025 and opened its early-access waitlist on March 31, 2026. As of May 12, more than 35,000 people had registered.
The glasses are priced at Rs 27,000 for general availability, with an early-bird price of Rs 22,000 for those joining through the waitlist. Customers can register at lenskart.com/b-smartglasses-by-lenskart.
Lenskart says feedback from early-access users will feed directly into future versions of the product, framing the launch as a co-creation exercise with Indian consumers.
