Foot Locker comes to India with Metro Brands Ltd, launches first store at Select City Walk

Foot Locker is set to inaugurate its omnichannel launch in India on October 19th with Metro Brands Ltd managing physical stores and Nykaa Fashion overseeing the e-commerce operations.

The first store, located at Select City Walk, will feature Foot Locker’s globally launched Reimagined concept, designed to enhance the retail experience for Indian consumers and sneaker enthusiasts. The 4,888 sq. ft. store aims to become a cultural hub, seamlessly blending youth, fashion, and community engagement.

Foot Locker is a multi-brand retailer offering footwear from popular brands like Adidas, Nike, Jordan, Puma, Birkenstock, Crocs, Skechers, Saucony, and New Era, as well as a selection of athleisure clothing.

Nykaa Fashion will support this launch by providing an online shopping experience that mirrors the in-store offering, available through the Foot Locker website and a Shop-in-Shop on the Nykaa Fashion and Nykaa Man platforms.

Commenting on the launch of India’s first Foot Locker store, Peter Scaturro, Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning & Growth of Foot Locker, Inc., said, “Bringing Foot Locker to India is a pivotal milestone in our global expansion. India’s vibrant sneaker culture offers a unique opportunity for Foot Locker to become a leading brand in the market.”

With its Foot Locker Reimagined concept, the brand aims to elevate the sneaker experience by blending innovation and technology in an immersive environment. Additionally, customers can personalise their sneakers at the Sneaker Hub and utilise sneaker care products from brands like Crep.

The grand launch event was marked by a series of interactive and immersive activities hosted by leading global brands, drawing over 150 key opinion leaders and enthusiasts from across the nation.

Foot Locker India aims to connect with youth and community-driven culture, featuring a diverse team of in-store category experts known as Stripers, who will be instrumental in community engagement and customer programs. The FLX(TRA) Rewards Program will be part of the brand’s offerings, enabling consumers to access top sneaker and apparel brands like Nike, Jordan Brand, adidas, and more.

At the launch event, different brands hosted immersive and interactive activities, including, one of its kind art customisations and interactive photo-op by adidas Originals, Nail Art by FILA, Daruma Doll live painting & fun photo-booth by Asics, and Digi-Basketball engagement & Nike Music Stage takeover ft. Fotty Seven and Ma Faiza, and New Balance DJ takeover ft. DJ Nina. This event also witnessed the PUMA India launch of the new drops by Fenty by Rihanna collection and a charm-customisation zone. 

Design Matrix played a crucial role in the successful launch, handling construction and build management. Their expertise ensured that Foot Locker’s vision of a brand-aligned, engaging retail environment came to life.
