The apparel manufacturing industry has lost a true stalwart. Sarbajit Ghose, Managing Director of Laguna Clothing and Board Member at CIEL Textile, passed away on 4th March 2025 due to a sudden cardiac arrest in Bengaluru. His unexpected demise leaves an irreplaceable void in the industry.
Sarbajit founded Laguna Clothing in India in 2005, marking a significant chapter for CIEL Textile. His entrepreneurial acumen and deep industry expertise positioned the company as a leading manufacturer of premium shirts for global menswear brands like Hugo Boss and Polo Ralph Lauren.
Taking over as CEO in 2013 and later as Managing Director in 2019, Sarbajit played a key role in shaping Laguna Clothing’s growth. That same year, he joined CIEL Textile’s Board of Directors, where his strategic vision helped steer the company’s expansion.
In an official statement, CIEL Textile expressed their sorrow saying, “As a person, Serbie was truly unforgettable. He had a rare charisma that naturally drew people in and a unique way of engaging with others—thoughtful, witty, and always refreshingly direct. Whether in a boardroom, a factory, or a casual conversation, he had an innate ability to connect with people at all levels, make them feel valued, and challenge them to think differently. He inspired those around him to be their best—not just as professionals but as individuals. His presence, guidance, and sense of humour will be deeply missed.”
