German footwear brand BIRKENSTOCK has introduced its Care Essentials range to India. The brand previewed the line at an exclusive showcase in Mumbai that also featured its Autumn/Winter 2026 collection and the latest 1774 Collection. The event was held at IFBE, Fort, a century-old ice factory that has been conserved and reimagined as a space for design and art. The venue’s mix of heritage and reinvention reflected the brand’s own approach to craftsmanship, which traces back to a shoemaking tradition dating to 1774.
Care Essentials arrives in India
BIRKENSTOCK Care Essentials has been part of the brand’s world for two years globally and arrives in India this October. The collection is vegan, COSMOS Natural certified and made in Germany. It builds on the company’s orthopedic expertise and extends its 250 years of foot health heritage from the footbed into care.
The range covers a full foot and body care routine. Foot care products include the Exfoliating Foot Scrub, Nourishing Foot Balm, Comforting Dry Oil and Smoothing Pumice Stone. Body care products include the Relaxing Hand & Body Wash and Lotion.
Autumn/Winter 2026
The AW26 collection features innovations, archive revivals and reinterpretations of popular classics. Themes include animal prints, metallics and high shine finishes, and everyday staples for men and women.
High shine leather, oversized buckles and a quiet metallic sheen dress up the ARIZONA, MADRID and GIZEH styles, with statement hardware and fine straps in pearl white, taupe and copper. The BOSTON leans into vintage looks and an outdoor edit, alongside new arrivals in EVA and synthetics. All styles continue to stand on the brand’s signature footbed.
1774 Collections spotlight creative partnerships
The event also highlighted the 1774 Collections, BIRKENSTOCK’s line of creative collaborations with designers and brands that share its interest in creativity, design and material innovation. Two recent launches were featured:
- BIRKENSTOCK x ETRO reimagines the BOSTON and GIZEH with ETRO’s signature paisley motifs, embroidered accents, long fringe and Western-inspired buckles, in a palette of taupe and chocolate.
- BIRKENSTOCK x ADERERROR, the brand’s second collaboration with the Seoul-based label, reimagines the BOSTON in two forms, the Boston Cap and the Boston Flap, both featuring ADERERROR’s signature zigzag embroidery.
Founded in 1774 in Germany, BIRKENSTOCK’s product archive includes over 700 footbed-based silhouettes, from sandals and clogs to closed-toe shoes. The company reported revenue of €2.09 billion in fiscal year 2025 with its products sold in more than 90 countries and in over 12,000 retail stores. The vast majority of products are assembled in Germany, and all footbeds are made in Germany.
