Neeman’s eyes 100 stores by 2027, bets on franchise-led growth

By blending everyday comfort, contemporary design and conscious innovation, Neeman’s has carved a distinct niche in India’s accessible premium footwear market. Now, the brand is gearing up for its next phase of retail-led growth…

Founded by Taran Chhabra and Amar Preet Singh, Neeman’s has emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing comfort-first lifestyle brands by challenging the conventional notion that consumers must choose between style and comfort.

What started as a digital-first venture built around a simple consumer insight—that footwear should feel as good as it looks—has evolved into a nationally recognised brand through a measured and purpose-driven growth strategy. Rather than chasing scale from the outset, Neeman’s focused on building consumer trust online before entering offline retail with its first exclusive store in 2023.

That milestone marked the beginning of an experience-led retail journey, allowing the brand to refine its store formats, customer experience and operating model before accelerating expansion. Today, with 45 stores across India, annual business growth of 70–80%, and a target of 100 stores by 2027 Neeman’s is entering its next phase of growth through a calibrated franchise-led strategy. Brand’s footprint is strongest in the West and South India, which together account for nearly 70% of their store network, as they continue to strengthen their presence in North and East India.

Range at a Glance

Over the years, Neeman’s has expanded from a focused range of joggers and loafers into a comprehensive comfort-first portfolio spanning sneakers, walking shoes, slip-ons, sandals, slides, clogs, flip-flops and women’s footwear, with products priced between Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000, firmly positioning the brand in the accessible premium segment. As consumer preferences evolve, the brand is witnessing strong demand for categories that seamlessly blend comfort with contemporary style.

Lifestyle sneakers, particularly its Street Collection inspired by the colours, culture and energy of Indian streets, have emerged as a key growth driver, while women’s footwear—including everyday casuals, versatile slip-ons and open footwear— is gaining significant traction among consumers seeking comfort without compromising on style. Collections such as Begin Walk, Relive, Eco and Cushers continue to be among the brand’s best performers, underscoring the growing appeal of versatile, comfort-first footwear.

The Design Edge

At the heart of its proposition is a balanced blend of thoughtful design, everyday comfort and conscious innovation. From pioneering the use of merino wool to incorporating recycled PET bottles, organic cotton and recycled rubber, sustainability has remained embedded in the brand’s product philosophy rather than being treated as a standalone initiative. As categories such as story-led lifestyle sneakers and women’s comfort footwear gain momentum, Neeman’s continues to innovate around versatility, functionality and contemporary design. Reinforcing its commitment to quality and responsible growth, the brand also views initiatives such as BIS certification as an important step towards enhancing industry standards, transparency and consumer trust.

Bridging Online and Offline

Neeman’s operates through a balanced omnichannel model that brings together the scale and convenience of digital commerce with the depth of experience that physical retail offers.

The omnichannel strategy is built on the strengths of each channel. “Digital drives discovery, accessibility, convenience, and consumer insight. Physical retail drives trust, product experience, and deeper engagement. Together, they create a more seamless customer journey, allowing consumers to engage with us in the way that suits them best. For us, omnichannel is not just about being present everywhere. It is about creating a connected ecosystem where every touchpoint works together to strengthen the overall customer experience and build long-term brand affnity,” explains Taran Chhabra, Founder, Neeman’s.

The Tech Front

  • RapidCruise Technology: A lightweight, cushioned sole engineered to deliver superior comfort, soft bounce and enhanced energy return for smooth everyday movement.
  • Cushy Walk Technology: Built with an ultra-soft EVA Wave sole, it offers feather-light construction, plush cushioning and all-day comfort.
  • Material Innovation: The brand incorporates advanced materials such as merino wool, recycled PET bottles, organic cotton and recycled rubber, combining enhanced comfort with a more sustainable approach to product design.
  • Performance-Led Comfort: By integrating proprietary cushioning technologies with innovative materials, Neeman’s creates footwear that is lighter, softer and more responsive, delivering lasting comfort for everyday wear.

The New Rules of Consumer Engagement

Neeman’s is evolving its consumer engagement strategy by moving beyond social media to create a seamless omnichannel experience. As a digital-first D2C brand, it continues to leverage its online ecosystem not just for transactions, but also for product discovery, brand storytelling and building consumer trust. With nearly 80% of its sales still coming through digital channels, its website remains a key touchpoint for communicating the brand’s comfort-first philosophy. The company also uses behavioural insights and consumer data to better understand shopping patterns, enabling it to personalise communication, refine product development and make smarter business decisions. As its retail footprint expands, physical stores are complementing digital discovery by offering consumers an opportunity to experience the products firsthand, creating a connected customer journey across online and offline channels.

“For digitally native consumers today, engagement has to go far beyond social media visibility. They expect relevance, convenience and a seamless experience across every interaction, and our omnichannel approach is designed to deliver exactly that,” notes Chhabra.

The Road Ahead

Looking ahead, Neeman’s remains focused not merely on expanding its store network, but on creating meaningful consumer touchpoints that bring its philosophy of thoughtful design, everyday comfort and conscious living to a wider audience. Taran’s vision is to build Neeman’s into one of India’s most trusted comfort-first lifestyle brands. The idea is to make Neeman’s experience more accessible across the country without compromising the quality and consistency that define the brand.

“Innovation will continue to be shaped by changing consumer needs. As lifestyles become more dynamic, people are increasingly looking for products that bring together comfort, versatility, style, and sustainability. We use consumer insights continuously to refine our products, explore new materials and comfort technologies, and build categories that remain relevant to evolving lifestyles,” concludes Chhabra.
