adidas has launched Originals Sport, its first training collection to merge the brand’s Originals street-style heritage with technical performance wear built for women.
The line was unveiled in New York on July 22 and hits stores and adidas.co.in today, priced between INR 4,999 and 7,999.
Musicians Tate McRae and Emilia Mernes, along with professional volleyball player Harper Murray, front the campaign. adidas says the trio represents women who move fluidly between culture, creativity and sport — the audience it built the collection for.
Originals Sport draws directly from the Superstar tracksuit, one of adidas’s most recognizable designs. The collection carries over Trefoil branding and Originals-era design cues, reworked with feminine cut lines, bold proportions and an unconventional color palette, then paired with performance fabrics for training.
“For years, there was an expectation that serious training came with a certain uniform,” said Lisann Costello, adidas VP of Product Design Partnerships & Sports Marketing. “Today, women are redefining what performance looks like. They want workout wear that reflects who they are, not just what they’re doing. Originals Sport brings together the style heritage of adidas Originals with the performance expertise adidas is known for, allowing women to train without compromising between performance and self-expression.”
The range covers a full training wardrobe:
- Bras — low and medium support styles using AdiSOFT for breathability and LYCRA® ADAPTIV for flexible fit
- Leggings — 7/8 and full-length options built with LYCRA® ADAPTIV for unrestricted movement
- Tops — the Superstar Bra Tee and Originals Sport Tank Padded, both using CLIMACOOL for ventilation and cooling
- Layering pieces — the Superstar Midlayer and Originals Sport Coverup, designed as lightweight, versatile add-ons
- A onesie — a standalone statement piece built for creative layering
adidas frames the launch as a direct response to demand from women who want gym wear that doesn’t force a choice between performance and personal style.
