Luxury couture label Rimple & Harpreet has launched a new campaign, Muse in the Studio, starring actor Wamiqa Gabbi in a cinematic story set in the 1960s. Styled by Rimple Narula, the film draws on themes of solitude, identity, and longing through the lens of a fictional diplomat’s wife, Mrs. Geetha Rai.
Known for their costume design in period dramas like Padmaavat, Heeramandi, and the upcoming Ramayana, Rimple & Harpreet bring their signature storytelling style into a more intimate setting with this campaign. Set in an artist’s studio, the narrative explores the emotional journey of Mrs. Rai as she waits for her lover to return and paint her portrait.
“With this story, we wanted to blur the line between costume and couture—to clothe not just a character, but her memories, her longing, her quiet rebellion. Wamiqa embodied Mrs. Geetha Rai with such grace and vulnerability, allowing the garments to become echoes of her inner world. It’s a love letter to feminine complexity, to nostalgia, and to the power of style as narrative,” said Rimple Narula, Designer & Co-Founder of Rimple & Harpreet.
“Stepping into the world of Mrs. Geetha Rai was like slipping into a forgotten memory—delicate, layered, and full of longing. Rimple & Harpreet’s vision allowed me to explore a character through the poetry of fabric and form,” said Wamiqa Gabbi.
The wardrobe includes sequined saris, lace-inspired lehengas, hand-embroidered jackets, and Victorian accessories, blending archival and new designs for a look that bridges eras. The setting features vintage elements like oil paintings, dramatic partitions, and heavy drapes, enhancing the nostalgic mood.
Muse in the Studio reinforces Rimple & Harpreet’s commitment to storytelling through fashion, offering a powerful fusion of costume and couture in a deeply emotional narrative.
