UNIQLO has announced Academy Award, BAFTA, and Golden Globe-winning actor Cate Blanchett as its new Global Brand Ambassador. The global apparel retailer said Blanchett will work with the brand to advance its LifeWear philosophy, which focuses on timeless design, affordability, and contributing positively to society.
Tadashi Yanai, UNIQLO Founder and Chairman, President & CEO of Fast Retailing, said, “Ms. Blanchett is among the greatest actors of her generation—on stage and on screen. But our admiration goes beyond entertainment. Her passion and engagement are evident in her mentorship of emerging artists and her commitment to humanitarian and environmental causes. Through our partnership, we will work together to make positive changes in the world around us.”

Blanchett, known for her acclaimed performances in Tár, Carol, The Aviator, Blue Jasmine, and Elizabeth, said she values UNIQLO’s mission of making life better through simple, high-quality, and accessible clothing. “I am energised by the opportunity to help UNIQLO advance important aspects of its LifeWear philosophy—supporting the next generation, addressing global displacement, giving back to communities, and contributing to a more equitable world,” she said.
Beyond her work on screen, Blanchett is a Global Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, a member of the Earthshot Prize Council, and an advocate for conservation and humanitarian causes. She also serves on boards and as patron of leading cultural and environmental institutions.
With this announcement, Blanchett joins UNIQLO’s existing Global Brand Ambassadors, which include tennis legend Roger Federer, golfer Adam Scott, and wheelchair tennis champions Shingo Kunieda and Gordon Reid MBE.
