Titan Company Limited has announced a leadership transition at the top, with Ajoy Chawla set to take over as the Managing Director from 1st January 2026. The move follows the scheduled retirement of current MD C.K. Venkataraman, who will step down on 31st December 2025, in line with the Tata Group’s superannuation policy.
Leadership Transition
The decision was approved by Titan’s Board of Directors during its meeting held on 8th May 2025. C.K. Venkataraman, who joined Titan in 1990 and took over as Managing Director in October 2019, has been a driving force behind the company’s strong growth trajectory over the past several years. His retirement marks the culmination of a distinguished 35-year career at Titan.
Ajoy Chawla, currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Titan’s Jewellery Division, will assume the role of Managing Director effective 1st January 2026. The formal process of his induction to the company’s Board and appointment as MD will be completed in due course, subject to shareholder approval.
Chawla, a Mechanical Engineer from VJTI Mumbai and a PGDM holder from IIM-Calcutta, began his career with Tata Administrative Services (TAS) in 1990 and joined Titan in 1991. Over the years, he has held leadership roles across the Watches Division, Strategy, Fragrances, and Taneira. Since taking charge of the Jewellery Division in 2019, he has successfully scaled the business by 2.5X in both sales and profits, reinforcing Titan’s market leadership in the category.
