Rivaaj Couture debuts with ‘Raas-Leela’, a baroque ode to modern Indian heirlooms

Hyderabad-based couture label Rivaaj Couture makes a striking debut with its first collection, “Raas-Leela,” redefining how Indian craftsmanship meets contemporary elegance. The brand, founded by 22-year-old designer Shivani Parakh, celebrates India’s artistic legacy through silhouettes that feel timeless yet relevant, creating what it calls ‘a new age of heirlooms.’

Inspired by the lotus — a symbol of grace, resilience, and serenity — Raas-Leela reinterprets traditional Indian couture through a modern lens. The collection blends heritage techniques such as zari, zardozi, sequins, and cutdana embroidery with minimalist, sculpted silhouettes that balance opulence and restraint. Every piece carries the essence of baroque romance — rich in mood, yet understated in execution.

Rivaaj Couture is our tribute to the artisans who keep India’s craft traditions alive and to individuals who value heritage in a modern world,” said Shivani Parakh, CEO & Creative Director. “With Raas-Leela, we’ve combined classic embroidery techniques with comfortable, elegant silhouettes that fit today’s lifestyle.”

The collection embraces old-world glamour with contemporary comfort, featuring pre-draped sarees, structured jackets, and fluid drapes that are as versatile as they are luxurious. Menswear pieces, too, adopt a quietly powerful aesthetic — subtle, refined, and steeped in craftsmanship.

Shot in natural light, the campaign for Raas-Leela mirrors the calm and rooted beauty of its muse — the lotus. The visuals highlight the duality of movement and stillness, grace and strength, paying homage to the artisans whose hands bring the designs to life.

With prices ranging between Rs 20,000 and Rs 80,000, Rivaaj Couture caters to a new generation of consumers who seek authenticity, story, and soul in what they wear. The brand’s philosophy moves beyond occasion wear, positioning couture as a meaningful expression of identity, heritage, and emotion.

Parakh, who previously co-founded the luxury label Saancha, founded Rivaaj Couture to bring Indian craft to the forefront of contemporary luxury. “For me, luxury is not about excess. It is about care, time, and soul,” she said.

Based in Hyderabad, Rivaaj Couture reflects the growing wave of homegrown Indian brands that merge artisanal techniques with modern design, appealing to both Gen Z and millennial audiences.
