Nishant Poddar steps down as CMO & Head of Retail Experience at WROGN after 12 years

Nishant Poddar has resigned from his role as Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Retail Experience at WROGN, marking the end of a nearly 12-year association with the brand and its parent company, Universal Sportsbiz Private Limited (USPL).

Poddar announced his exit through a LinkedIn post, reflecting on his journey of building WROGN from the ground up alongside founders Anjana Reddy and Vikram Reddy. “We built something from scratch—a house of brands that didn’t just sell clothes, but shaped how young India expressed itself,” he wrote, adding that the experience played a defining role in shaping his professional and personal growth.

Poddar joined USPL in August 2014 as Head of Marketing, Sales and Retail, and went on to become CMO & Head of Retail Experience in March 2017. During his tenure, he was instrumental in shaping WROGN’s brand identity, marketing narrative, and omnichannel retail experience, helping position the Virat Kohli–co-owned brand as one of India’s most recognisable youth fashion labels.

Under his leadership, WROGN expanded its footprint across exclusive brand outlets and leading e-commerce platforms, while strengthening its cultural relevance through collaborations, campaign-led storytelling, and a strong focus on youth-driven design and communication.

With over two decades of experience across fashion, lifestyle and consumer brands, Poddar is known for his work at the intersection of brand storytelling, retail experience, and consumer insight. Prior to WROGN, he spent nearly nine years at Coffee Day, where he held multiple marketing roles, and earlier began his career in operations at Sealand Container Services.

While Poddar has not yet announced his next move, he signed off his post by stating that he is “signing off, but not leaving the story behind—just carrying it forward.”

WROGN has not announced a successor at the time of publishing.
