Madhur Acharya steps down as VP – E-commerce, Lenskart

Madhur Acharya has stepped down from Lenskart, ending a tenure of over four years in which he held dual roles as Vice President of Ecommerce and Global Business Head of the company’s contact lens vertical, Aqualens.

Acharya confirmed his departure in a LinkedIn post on Thursday, writing that his last day at the eyewear giant had arrived faster than expected. “4+ years go by faster than you think. I had no idea what was coming — the scale, the chaos, the lessons, the people, the moments that tested everything I thought I knew about myself,” he wrote.

During his time at Lenskart, Acharya wore two hats simultaneously: leading Aqualens, the company’s contact lens brand, and overseeing ecommerce for the broader business. Under his watch, Aqualens grew to over 500,000 customers across India, the Middle East, and Singapore.

On the ecommerce side, he drove growth across key Lenskart brands including Vincent Chase, John Jacobs, Lenskart BLU, Air, and Hooper, while also spearheading expansion into international markets.

Acharya holds an MBA from Amity University and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Delhi University. He is recognised among Asia’s Top 100 Marketing and Communication professionals, and his career spans over 12 years of building D2C brands in India — including stints at Forest Essentials (part of the Estée Lauder Group) and WOW Skin Science, where he was a core member of the team that scaled the personal care brand to over ₹500 crore in revenue within three years.

The timing of his exit is notable. Lenskart recently went public, the contact lens category is growing more competitive. Acharya has not yet announced his next move.
