Kitex launches US-based kidswear brand Little Star in India, eyes Rs 1,000 cr revenue

Kitex Garments, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of infant and children’s apparel, has officially launched its US kidswear brand Little Star in the Indian market in August 2025. The brand was previously available only in the United States.

India’s infant and children’s apparel market is expected to reach approximately Rs 1.46 lakh crore by 2030, driven by a birth rate nearly six times that of the US. Reportedly, Kitex is aiming for an ambitious revenue of Rs 1,000 crore within two to three years of the launch, owing to the sector’s projected growth.

Sabu M Jacob, Managing Director of Kitex Garments, said the decision to strengthen the company’s domestic presence is a strategic step to mitigate risks in international markets.

“By building a strong foundation in India, we are better positioned to tackle any potential challenges in the US export market,” Jacob told news agency PTI. He said the move would also help safeguard the interests of Indian consumers and investors.

Headquartered in Kizhakkambalam near Kochi, Kitex Garments is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of clothing for newborns and children.

Kitex’s strategy for Little Star focuses on an online-first roll-out, with the brand debuting across major e-commerce platforms to maximize reach and accelerate recognition in key urban markets. Subsequent phases will see expansion into brick-and-mortar stores nationwide.

The Little Star collection offers apparel for newborns, infants, and young children. Jacob underlined that Indian families are increasingly seeking high-quality, safe, and stylish clothing for their children. The brand promises products tailored to Indian preferences but with international-grade benchmarks, at accessible price points.
