About House of Anita Dongre (HOAD)

Founded in 1995 by Anita Dongre, Meena Sehra and Mukesh Sawlani, House of Anita Dongre Limited is one of India’s leading fashion houses today. The company owns and operates three brands with extremely distinct identities. AND with its line of chic, contemporary western-wear for women, Global Desi – a young, free-spirited, vibrant line of boho-chic ensembles and the Anita Dongre label offering breathtaking, curated looks in bridal, couture, pret, menswear and handcrafted jadau jewellery (Pinkcity).

House of Anita Dongre has a widespread reach that extends not just across the country, but beyond borders as well. In India, the network includes 286 exclusive brand stores and around 789 multi-brand large format stores, taking it to a total of 1075 points of sale in over 114 cities. Globally, House of Anita Dongre has established its presence in New York and Mauritius.
House of Anita Dongre has a workforce of more than 2800 associates. It is the first fashion house of the country in which a leading private Equity firm-General Atlantic has made an investment.

Following the successes of 2013 were the landmark achievements of 2015. In March 2015, Milind Sarwate, Former Marico Group CFO, joined the board as an Independent Director. In April 2015, the company shifted its design headquarters to the serene, green hills of Rabale in Navi Mumbai. The ergonomically-designed, earth-friendly building is a reflection of everything that the company stands for and believes in.

In 2019, the Board of House of Anita Dongre Limited, as part of its corporate restructuring, transferred the businesses under its two brands, AND and Global Desi under a slump sale arrangement to a newly formed wholly-owned subsidiary, Ochre and Black Private Limited (OBPL).

Recently, HOAD launched a beautiful new label, Anita Dongre Grassroot, which seeks to revive the heirloom craft traditions of India and fashion them into contemporary tales. With its motto of ‘revive-empower-sustain’, this is a tribute to the hands of history. Over the years, HOAD has grown from strength to strength – embracing change, redefining fashion, setting trends and making a difference.

Global Desi is an India-inspired young, colourful, boho-chic brand with global appeal. Any woman wherever in the world she may be – who loves, lives and breathes the vibrancy of Indian prints and influences will find a little bit of herself in this label. The Global Desi collection is predominantly India-inspired and delves deep into our rich heritage of colours, textures and prints to combine them to create international appeal. Anita Dongre Grassroot is born out of the need to revive and sustain Indian handcrafted traditions by translating them into contemporary, sustainable fashion. It is a conscious step towards slow and sustainable fashion. A tale of reverence and appreciation for the local artisan and the environment. Through collaborations with independent artisans and NGOs, Grassroot provides steady opportunities to skilled craftspeople in remote villages, ensuring fair wages and thus empowering them with better livelihoods. This effort is reversing the effects of labour migration, all the while embracing sustainable designs.
