RJ Corp Retail has appointed retail veteran Amit Nayak as Chief Operating Officer. Nayak’s appointment came into effect in May 2025, and he is primarily taking care of RJ Corp Retail’s Nike business. In this leadership role, Nayak will be spearheading business operations, growth strategy, and end-to-end brand execution for one of the world’s most iconic sportswear labels, in India.
His new role at RJ Corp involves overseeing product design, buying, planning, sales, and marketing across offline and online channels. The focus is on building a robust sportswear brand portfolio spanning men’s, women’s, kids’ apparel, footwear, and accessories.
An Experienced Professional
With over 12 years in the retail and lifestyle sector, Nayak brings deep expertise in brand building, omni-channel retail, product design, and strategic merchandising. He started his career in operations at NTPC but later pivoted to retail with a strong foundation in category management, customer insights, and growth strategy.
Prior to joining RJ Corp Retail, he served as Business Head at Performax and Umbro under Reliance Retail. His role at Reliance Retail included implementation of innovative retail strategies, multi-channel sales management, and brand-building expertise. He also contributed to corporate strategy as part of the CEO Office. He is an expert in category management, marketing, and fostering team collaboration to achieve business objectives.
Before that, he was a participant in the prestigious Aditya Birla Group Leadership Program.
An alumnus of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Silver Medalist) and Vellore Institute of Technology, Nayak is known for his results-driven mindset and collaborative leadership. His appointment at RJ Corp Retail signals a dynamic new phase for expanding Nike’s presence and deepening customer engagement in India’s fast-evolving retail market.
