lululemon appoints Vineet Mehta as Vice President to lead India Technology Hub

Canadian athletic apparel and lifestyle brand lululemon has appointed Vineet Mehta as Vice President to lead its India Technology Hub.

Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Mehta wrote, “Super excited to join lululemon, an iconic and pioneering brand with a deep connection with its customers and communities. I am very grateful for this opportunity to lead our India teams and look forward to driving our next phase of growth & innovation together!”

Mehta joins from Telstra, where he was an executive at its Bengaluru Global Capability Centre and led its product and technology teams in India. He previously held senior technology leadership roles at Kmart Australia, L Brands, Target and Thomson Reuters.

He has spent more than two decades building and running technology capability centres in India.

lululemon’s India technology hub

lululemon, founded in 1998 and headquartered in Vancouver, is known for its athletic wear and sells internationally. In 2021 it launched its India Technology Hub, a development centre in Bengaluru, its first such centre outside North America. The company planned to hire close to 250 technologists by 2022, and the centre works on marketing technology, data science, machine learning and full-stack cloud engineering.

Executives at the time said the hub offered access to talent and a useful time zone. One said India sits in the APAC time zone, where much of the company’s growth is coming from. The hub has since been expanded, and in 2023 it was reported to be working as an extension of the global technology team on projects of strategic importance.

Retail entry into India

Lululemon entered India in 2025 with Tata CLiQ as its franchise partner. The appointment comes as lululemon announced its first store in India. The brand will open its first store at New Delhi’s DLF Promenade this fall. The store will stock technical athletic apparel for men and women across yoga, pilates, running, training, tennis, golf and everyday movement, and serve as a hub for community events. After the physical store launch, the brand will also launch online via Tata CLiQ Luxury and Tata CLiQ Fashion.

lululemon now operates in more than 30 markets. The India launch follows its franchise-model entries into Poland, Greece, Hungary and Romania earlier this year.

India is now a market for lululemon as well as a technology base, which gives Mehta’s role extra weight. He will lead the Bengaluru teams as the company’s customer-facing presence in the country begins.
