Kuwait’s Curl Nation enters India with first salon in Mumbai

The Curl Nation, a Kuwait-founded haircare brand specialising in curly, wavy and coily hair, has entered the Indian market with the opening of its first salon at Lodha Signet in Lower Parel, Mumbai.

Founded in 2019 by Vijai Vadivu Rangasamy and Bala Subramanyam, the brand started as a social media platform before growing into a chain of concept stores and salons across Kuwait and Bahrain, along with a broader B2B presence across the Gulf region. The Mumbai salon marks its first move outside the Gulf.

The Curl Nation positions itself around a single idea: that curly hair needs a fundamentally different approach than straight hair, rather than being treated as a variant of it. Every client consultation covers curl pattern, hair texture, porosity, scalp condition, lifestyle and hair goals before any service begins. The salon’s offerings include the Ultimate Curl Transformation, Signature Dry Curl Cut, Curl Reset, Curl Detox and Frizz Rescue treatments, along with precision curly haircuts, creative colour, and advanced treatments such as Bond Repair and K18.

The Curl Nation began from a very personal frustration — not being able to find the right products, advice or professionals who genuinely understood curly hair,” said Vijai Vadivu Rangasamy, Founder & CEO, The Curl Nation. “That experience became the foundation for what we wanted to build: a dedicated space where textured hair is understood and cared for. Bringing The Curl Nation to India is an important next step in that journey, and our ambition is to help build the curly hair category from the ground up.”

Bala Subramanyam, Co-Founder & COO, The Curl Nation, adds, “India represents a significant opportunity for textured hair care, but the category is still at an early stage. Our focus is not only on offering specialised services but also on creating greater awareness and raising the standard of care available to consumers.”

The Lower Parel salon is the first phase of a broader rollout. The Curl Nation is preparing to open a second Mumbai outpost in Juhu, with further expansion planned across other Indian cities. Longer term, the brand intends to grow through salons, retail, e-commerce and professional training programmes for stylists, with the goal of making specialised curly hair care more widely accessible in the country.

The brand’s curl-focused product range is available at the Lower Parel salon and through its website.
