Ex-Bestseller India CEO Vineet Gautam launches new venture 91Brands

After stepping down as CEO earlier this year, retail veteran Vineet Gautam has announced his next big move — the launch of 91Brands, a venture born from over two decades of experience and insight into India’s rapidly evolving retail landscape.

Describing 91Brands as more than just a company, Gautam said it aims to be a bridge between global and Indian retail ecosystems — helping international brands navigate India’s complexities while empowering Indian brands to find their voice on the global stage.

“For 25 years, I’ve had a front-row seat to India’s retail revolution,” Gautam shared on social media while unveiling the new initiative. “I’ve seen consumers evolve – dream bigger, aspire higher, and demand more. And amid that evolution, I’ve observed a gap that’s too big to ignore: Global brands find India exciting but complex, at the same time Indian brands have the potential but often struggle to find their voice on the world stage. 91Brands is my answer to that.”

The venture seeks to go beyond traditional brand partnerships by focusing on deep, long-term collaborations designed to create lasting value and cross-border growth. “We’re not just building a company, we’re building a bridge. One that brings the world’s most loved brands closer to Bharat, and takes India’s most promising ideas to the world,” he added.

With 91Brands, Gautam enters a new chapter in his entrepreneurial journey, marking what he calls “the start of something extraordinary” for Indian retail.
