Fashion for Good and Arvind Limited have announced the launch of Future Forward Factories India, an ambitious initiative to develop a comprehensive blueprint for sustainable textile manufacturing and constructing a pioneering facility that brings these innovations to life, with an aim to reduce 93% of GHG emissions.
According to Fashion for Good’s website, this initiative focuses on transforming the operations of the Tier 2 factories – the backbone of the supply chain – into environmentally responsible and economically viable. It delivers an open-source, modular blueprint for sustainable textile manufacturing factories in tier-2 towns and cities which can be adopted industry-wide. They are also building a first-of-its-kind physical facility that demonstrates these principles in action.
The facility will help in bringing innovations from concept to reality and prove commercial and environmental viability of these approaches.
Anchor partner Arvind will establish the first near net-zero textile production facility in Gujarat for cotton woven and knits, targeting a 93% reduction in GHG emissions and saving approximately 60 liters of water per kg of fabric.

The initiative is backed by a strong network of committed catalytic funders; Laudes Foundation, Apparel Impact Institute, IDH and on-ground partners; BluWin, Wazir Advisors, Grant Thornton Bharat LLP and Sattva Consulting, who are collaborating to deliver actionable insights and practical solutions.
