Retail industry veteran Vineet Jain has been appointed Chief Operating Officer at Reliance Retail, where he will lead operations for the Fashion & Lifestyle business. Jain shared the news of his new role on LinkedIn.
Jain brings close to three decades of retail experience, having built and scaled large-format retail businesses across Future Group, Vishal Retail, and V-Mart. At Reliance Retail, his mandate will include driving operational excellence, enhancing customer experience, accelerating business development and network expansion, strengthening asset productivity, and supporting the company’s next phase of sustainable, profitable growth.
Jain joins from V-Mart Retail Ltd., where he served as COO and led one of the company’s most significant transformation journeys — driving manifold growth in business scale, expanding its national footprint, strengthening profitability, and spearheading large-scale customer, operational, and digital transformation initiatives.
Before V-Mart, he spent over 17 years at Future Group in several leadership roles, including CEO – North India. There, he was instrumental in building and scaling formats such as Big Bazaar, Food Bazaar, and FBB, led the development of the Big Bazaar GEN NXT format, and drove turnarounds at Easyday and Big Apple.
Earlier in his career, Jain was part of the founding leadership team at Vishal Retail Ltd. (now Vishal Mega Mart), helping build one of India’s pioneering organised retail businesses. He began his career in the textile and financial services industries.
Jain is a Chartered Accountant (ICAI), Cost Accountant (ICMAI), and Company Secretary (Inter), and holds a commerce degree from the University of Calcutta. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and IIM Ahmedabad, and has completed the Executive Leadership Programme at INSEAD, France.
